Many libraries have fun reading programs with terrific incentives during the summer, and participating in this is a fabulous way to develop some good reading habits.
What about tying in some fun activities with their favorite books, so they don’t even realize that they are learning Math?
Dr. Claire Passantino will be giving a delightful workshop that will engage your children and give you tools for enhancing the learning environment in rich and exciting ways.
"Each person who attends the workshop will get his or her own copy of a "Funbook." Each Funbook has FUN math activities related to 16 children's books. You can take the books out of the library, then go home and read the stories and do the math! So if you like reading, and you like math, you will LOVE Let's Read
Math! - On May 6, "Dr. Claire" will demonstrate some of the math activities. First we will read the story of "Amelia Bedelia." - (It's funny how mixed up she gets - like when she puts clothes on a naked chicken!) Have fun dressing your own chickens and pigs, and making a big chart with all the outfits. We will also do tangram puzzles and look at books about tangrams." Come
