MONEY SAVING IDEAS FOR CURRICULUM, CLASSES
AND OTHER SERVICES AT CHSRC

"How can I homeschool without spending a fortune?"

Since many homeschooling families live on only one income, this is a valid concern.  It is a definite commitment to teach your own children, in terms of time, energy, creativity, and money.  The good news is that with Covenant Home School Resource Center, we have several ways that can save you LOTS of valuable cash.

bullet

GETTING CASH FOR HOMESCHOOL USE:  Many people ask if there are any government funds or benefits for homeschooling (i.e. tax breaks, vouchers, or refunds).  In Arizona, the answer is "no", and most of the experts would say that is a good thing.  With government involvement often comes additional responsibilities, rules and regulations.  Parents in Arizona have the freedom to focus on the job of homeschooling without added paperwork and hoops to jump through.

However, CHSRC has some GREAT ways to get cash for your homeschooling needs that have nothing to do with the government:
bullet

Basha's and Fry's Gift Card Fundraisers
bullet

Buy a gift card from CHSRC from either store for $5.00 each.
(There is already $5 on the card).  We track the card number to your CHSRC account.

bullet

Recharge it as often as you wish and use it for all your shopping

bullet

Between 3% and 6% of the total bill will get refunded back to CHSRC,
based on the total volume of all our cardholders.

bullet

We credit the money associated with your card to your account so it is available to you to use for ANY of our services.

bullet

Build up enough credit, and you can totally fund your books, classes, testing or anything else that you would purchase through CHSRC!

bullet

All of your friends and relatives may purchase cards through us, tell us that they want to be connected with your account, and we will track their card numbers and credit to your account as well.  (Who do you know who buys groceries?)

bullet

Besides groceries, there are ways to credit all your purchases and bills by using your gift cards.  (Pay your mortgage and get free money for school!)

I-Bake Sale Fundraiser
bullet

Do you shop online?  Why not get cash back for homeschooling expenses with every purchase you make?

bullet

You choose whether you want an actual credit back on your credit card, to use as surplus for whatever you want, or you can donate the cash back to CHSRC to go into your account.

bullet

If you donate the money, you get a tax deduction, PLUS free cash to use for any of the CHSRC materials or services.

bullet

There are hundreds of everyday companies connected with I-Bake Sale, so you can do your regular shopping at your favorite stores.

bullet

The return is 1%-10% based on the store and the promotions available.

bullet

Sign up now, and you may choose at any time the amount that you want to keep or the amount to donate to Covenant Home School Resource Center.

bullet

See more details for the I-Bake Sale program.

bullet

Do you shop at different stores than the ones mentioned?
bullet

We are open to working with additional companies, but need someone to help us get set up and be the coordinator for the program.

bullet

Check with your store to see if they offer fundraisers or script programs for schools and non-profit organizations.

bullet

See what the set up process is.  Typically, paperwork needs to be filled out and a minimum number of cards need to be purchased.  If an individual would be willing to get us set up, the cost of the cards would be reimbursed as we sold the cards.

bullet

Generally, the coordinator needs to be the one to purchase the additional cards, and the cards may need to acquired from a certain store.

bullet

CHSRC will still track the refunds and credit them to your account.

bullet

SCHOLARSHIP FUND FOR CHSRC CLASSES
bullet

For the families taking classes:
bullet

Any family can fill out the scholarship application when registering for classes

bullet

CHSRC membership and enrollment fees are due on enrollment

bullet

15 days are granted to try to get scholarship donations from family or friends before the class fees are due

bullet

As money comes in, it is credited into the family fund.

bullet

For people wanting to donate:
bullet

CHSRC is a 501 (c) 3 organization, so all donations are tax deductible.

bullet

The donor may specify a family as the recipient or the money may go into the general scholarship fund.

bullet

The donor will receive a tax receipt from CHSRC.

SAVING MONEY ON CLASSES
bullet

Pay for the semester or year in advance
bullet

On most classes, you will save $5.00 per class per month by paying in advance. (Some of the less costly classes have lower monthly savings.)

bullet

Rent the textbook instead of purchasing.  We give you the option.  Text rentals are for our price of acquiring the new books to have on hand.  Text purchases for our classes are our cost plus 15% of the retail price  (often a savings of 20-25% off the retail, and better than the best public sales we can offer!)

bullet

For our West Campus, be part of the Administrative Team
bullet

In exchange for some volunteer time in helping to oversee the operations, team members get free CHSRC membership and a discounted rate for the monthly class payments, plus a few additional perks.

bullet

bullet

bullet

Donations of cash
bullet

You may designate the funds to one of our general needs

bullet

You may contribute to the scholarship fund for a specific family

bullet

Donations of books and goods
bullet

bullet

Donated paper goods and supplies are greatly appreciated!  These items save us LOTS in time and money resources that are needed for program and staffing costs

Pleas contact us if you have any questions.  We welcome book purchases from around Arizona or across the nation.
